Patient Selection Criteria for Open Access

  • Age 16-84
  • Life expectancy >10 years
  • BMI <40 (There may be special consideration for patients with BMI great than 40)
  • No or few co-morbidities (see Guidelines for Referring Doctors)
  • Patients on NOACs/blood thinners require clear directions from their prescribing physician about the safety of ceasing these medications prior to booking a colonoscopy. The appropriate management of these patients will then be discussed with the GIE gastroenterologist and all relevant parties.
  • Patients not competent in English require an interpreter/English speaking family member at colonoscopy Prep appointments and on the day of the procedure.
