Dr Roberts graduated from the University of Queensland in 1969. He was a Resident at the Royal Brisbane Hospital in 1970 and 1971 and a Medical Registrar at the Repatriation General Hospital in 1972 and 1973.
He subsequently trained in gastroenterology at Royal Brisbane Hospital in 1974, 1975 and 1976 after which continued his training at Vanderbilt Medical School in Nashville Tennessee until 1979. He was a faculty member at the University of Queensland and then the University of Texas in San Antonio as associate professor, before entering private practice in 1985.
Dr Roberts has continued to maintain a long and close association with Royal Brisbane Hospital. His clinical and research interests have included inflammatory bowel disease, coeliac disease and polyp surveillance.
Dr Roberts performs procedures at Chermside Day Hospital, Brisbane Endoscopy Services at Sunnybank and the Wesley Hospital.
